Bid the Law to Die

Posted in Old Stuff From My Past Blog... on January 31, 2007 by Chris Dills

Romans 7 speaks of a woman’s commitment to her husband as long as he is living. if the woman joins to another man during her husbands life she is an adulterer. once the husband dies however she is free to marry again. she is incapable of being fully commited to two men. in the same sense, we are first brought into a relationship with the law in order to recognize our needs for forgiveness. once we enter into a relationship with Christ, it becomes time to sever our relationship with the Law. not only to severe the relationship, but also allow the Law to die so that we may devote ourselves solely to the freedom of the relationship in Christ. are we free to sin with no remorse? hardly. we are now bound to the wedding vows holding us to Christ’s righteousness and the call to live a life in the way Jesus lived His.

Why I Hate Christians

Posted in Old Stuff From My Past Blog... on January 31, 2007 by Chris Dills

So on the off-chance that someone is reading this that doesnt know me…allow me to begin by stating that i am indeed a Christian. I love the Christian life and the fact that i, unworthy as i may be, am allowed to be in constant fellowship with the Creator of the universe. My problem lies with christians themselves…myself included more often than not. The modern church has become so methodical that the idea of being truly Christ-like has become a lost concept. Jesus came to fulfill the law so that we can be MADE righteous by accepting Him…because we are incapable of completing it ourselves. Somewhere down the line we have made ourselves believe that because we live a “good christian life” that we are some sort of higher being than those without Christ. We appraise our worth to God based on some sort of merit system and snub our white-washed noses and those with more obvious outward sin blemishes. The ministry of Jesus was soley based on reaching out to those who were looked down upon by the “religous” people and then to correct the self-righteous into a recognition of who they really are. We forget that we are not righteous because of who we are or what we do and that without Christ we are filthy on our own. It is His righteousness that purifies us and in remembering that our burden for those around us should increase daily. We are nothing more than sinners saved through grace…grace we do not deserve and cannot earn…

To Christians: On Christian Paganism

Posted in Old Stuff From My Past Blog... on January 31, 2007 by Chris Dills

Is it possible that we are breaking the first two commandments on a regular basis in our daily spiritual lives? It seems as though we have been placed on spiritual cruise control for so long that we have taken the actuallity of God out of the picture and replaced Him with a humanized picture of our own creation. A constant indoctrination of paintings of a meek euro-jesus surrounded by sheep and halos have taken our fear of an unknown and unpredictable God and turned Him into a religious vending machine in which we choose our preference and out pops a convienient psuedogod to save us from our problems and then steps back out of our lives till we need him next (in whatever form we desire). Also, last time I checked, the cross that Jesus was brutally murdered on for the purpose of redeeming man back into communion with the Father did not come in a gold-plated model with pretty flowers and diamond studs in place of the nails. We have managed to make Christianity comfortable and socially acceptable (even fashionable) to the point where our distinctly monotheistic faith has become a hush-hush paganism. The importance of seeking after a true understanding of the reality of God (as given to us in scripture) is crucial if we truly desire to see others come to know Christ. When our lives and words reflect God for His true nature there are no limits to what changes can be brought about in those closest to us.
